in-ground spa installation long beach

Warm soaks under the stars, year-round. In-ground spa installation in Long Beach for homeowners adding to a new build or an existing pool.

I've worked with many spa/pool companies over the last 8 years, one Long Beach reviewer wrote, and finding a real in-ground spa specialist is rare. Adam's Pool and Spa Service installs in-ground spas and pool-spa combos in Long Beach with Jandy or Pentair controls, gunite shells, and integrated plumbing. Built-in spas, spillover spas, and heated spa combos run year-round, not just summers.

What's the Difference Between an In-Ground Spa and a Portable Hot Tub?

An in-ground spa is a permanent gunite or concrete shell built into your yard. A portable hot tub is a prefab acrylic shell that sits on a pad and plugs into a circuit. We install in-ground spas only.

In-ground spas last 20 plus years, integrate with pool equipment, and carry NPT surface warranties. Portable units last 8 to 15 years, don't integrate with pool plumbing, and plug in for power.

It's hard to find a company you can fully trust with a permanent backyard install. If you want a built-in spa on Jandy or Pentair controls, we're the right call. For a drop-in portable unit, we're not your installer.

What's Included in an In-Ground Spa Installation?

A full in-ground spa install covers six phases. Standalone spa or pool-spa combo, the work stays with our crew start to finish.

Site and design

Site and design

Adam walks the lot, checks access, and confirms whether the spa runs standalone or integrates with an existing or planned pool. Shell size, depth, and jets get specified.

Permits and engineering

Permits and engineering

We pull City of Long Beach permits for structural, electrical, plumbing, and gas. Coastal zone lots trigger extra review. You don't file anything.

Excavation and plumbing

Excavation and plumbing

Shell dig, rebar, returns, and jet plumbing. Gas lines for heaters and conduit for automation rough in now, before shotcrete.

Gunite shell and plaster

Gunite shell and plaster

Pneumatic concrete shell, 28-day cure, then plaster or quartz finish. NPT-backed surfaces carry a lifetime warranty when scoped correctly.

Equipment and automation

Equipment and automation

Jandy or Pentair pump, heater, filter, and smart controls. One app runs the spa, and the pool too on combo builds.

Startup and walkthrough

Startup and walkthrough

We fire the heater, balance chemistry, and walk you through the equipment. Every new spa owner gets a 30 minute Pool School before we close out.

Why Build the Spa With Your Pool?

Pool-spa combos are our most-requested design. Four reasons customers build them together:

Shared filtration and plumbing cut equipment cost and pad footprint.
One automation panel runs both shells from a single Pentair or Jandy app.
One permit, one inspection trims timeline and paperwork.
One warranty package covers pump, heater, and surfaces together.

Our In-Ground Spa Installation Process

Consultation and design

Adam walks your yard, measures access, and scopes the shell. You get a design sketch and line-item cost.

Engineered plan and permit

We draft structural drawings, stamp the engineering, and submit the permit to City of Long Beach.

Excavation and rough-in

The shell is dug, rebar is tied, plumbing and electrical rough in, and heater gas lines run to the pad.

Shotcrete, cure, and finish

Gunite shoots against steel, cures 28 days, then plaster or quartz locks in the interior surface.

Equipment startup and walkthrough

Pumps, heater, filter, and automation come online. Adam teaches you the pad and the app.

Why Long Beach owners stick with Adams

What you get on the visit, not just the price

Manufacturer-certified crew

Jandy Certified, Pentair Expert Installer, and NPT Lifetime-Warranty Partner. Three accreditations issued by the equipment makers themselves, not self-claims. Warranty claims pass without a fight because the manufacturer sees our install history.

Written quote before any work

Every diagnostic ends with a line-item quote: parts, labor, and a repair-vs-replace recommendation when the gear is past 8 years. Nothing gets replaced until you see the price.

Permits and plan review handled

Long Beach pool permits, structural plan review, and fence-code compliance handled in-house. We talk to the inspector so you don't have to.

5-year equipment warranty

Adams Pool & Spa adds a 5-year warranty on qualifying equipment installations on top of the manufacturer warranty. Covers labor, not just parts.

One-company lifecycle

We built the pool next door, repaired the heater two blocks over, and run weekly service down the street. You don't re-vet a contractor every time something breaks.

Family-owned since 2013

Adam owns the company, answers the escalation calls, and stands behind the work. The accountability is on the door, not 18 layers deep at a corporate franchise.

FAQ

In-Ground Spa FAQ

Can I add an in-ground spa to my existing pool?

Yes, in most cases. A spillover spa can be cut into an existing pool shell on compatible builds. Shared filtration is easier when the pool pump and heater have capacity. We diagnose feasibility on a site visit. Some older pools need equipment upgrades before a spa can tie in. See our in-ground spa guide for background.

How long does in-ground spa installation take?

Standalone in-ground spa builds run 6 to 10 weeks from permit approval. Pool-spa combos add 2 to 3 weeks to a standard pool timeline. Shotcrete cures for 28 days regardless, so that phase sets the floor on every schedule.

Should I choose a gas or electric heater for my in-ground spa?

Both work in Long Beach. Gas heats fast but costs more to run year-round. Electric heat pumps cost more up front and heat more slowly, but they run cheaper monthly. California clean-energy rules are also tightening on gas appliances. One reviewer converted from gas to electric on Adam's recommendation. We walk the tradeoff on every install.

Can I control my in-ground spa from a phone app?

Yes. Jandy and Pentair automation both offer app-based control for pumps, heaters, lights, and jets. One Long Beach reviewer replaced an old wall unit with the Pentair app and now runs everything from a single tap.

Do you install above-ground or portable hot tubs?

No. We install in-ground spas only. Portable units and above-ground hot tubs use different parts, different service models, and different warranty paths. If a portable unit is what you want, a local hot tub retailer is the right call. We're the right call for built-in spa work.

How much does in-ground spa installation cost in Long Beach?

Standalone in-ground spas start around $28,000. Spa add-ons to a new pool build start around $22,000. Custom builds with premium finishes and automation price at $45,000 plus. See our in-ground spa cost breakdown for detail.

Who handles the spa after installation?

We do. The same crew that installed your in-ground spa handles chemistry, heater service, and equipment repair after startup. That continuity is what most pool-and-spa companies can't match. One company, one license, one phone number.
