Where the apprenticeship matters

Most pool techs in Southern California learn on the job at a service company that hires fast and trains slow. Adam learned the opposite way. Two years as an apprentice in equipment repair, pulling motors, rewiring heaters, and learning what's actually inside a sand filter that looks fine on the gauge.

What sound does the equipment make. When did it start. What changed in the past 30 days. Half of pool diagnostics are done before the truck pulls up.

Walk the pad

Flow rate, pressure, amp draw, voltage, gas input. The numbers tell the story the customer hasn't seen yet. Most pumps and heaters are diagnosed in under 30 minutes.

Quote in writing

Line-item parts, labor, and a repair-vs-replace recommendation when the unit is past 8 years old. You see the number before any tool comes out.

Fix the root cause

Replacing a shaft seal on a pump that's running hot because the impeller is scoring won't last. We chase the cause, not the symptom.
